The Ministry of Industry and Tourism has announced the opening of the second edition of the Strategic Programme for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) Agri-food.
What is a Perte?
PERTE Agro is an initiative that forms part of the Recovery Plan and which aims to revitalise and modernise the thriving Spanish agri-food sector.
With €100 million in grants and another €200 million in loans allocated, The programme is designed to be an essential support for technological and rural development in the agri-food sector.
It thus represents an opportunity for companies in the agri-food sector to strengthen their competitiveness and sustainability.
Companies wishing to develop strategic projects for the economic recovery and transformation of the sector may apply for this aid, which will be awarded on a non-competitive basis.
The objectives of the PERTE Agri-Food programme
This new edition aims to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of the agri-food sector in Spain, especially in rural areas where the business sector has a greater presence. It also seeks to strengthen their competitiveness and profitability, with measures focused on process automation.
The financial impetus behind PERTE seeks to promote innovation, energy efficiency, and the transition to a greener and more digital economy.
This second Perte Agro will have three lines of action
- Investment in equipment for SMEs. This line will directly support the modernisation of equipment in small and medium-sized enterprises.
- Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I). Designed to fund research, development and innovation projects.
- Innovation in sustainability and energy efficiency. Seeks to promote projects that improve resource and energy management.
What are the requirements for the PERTE Agro award?
Projects wishing to join this programme must fall within at least one of the thematic priorities established by the ministry, such as the circular economy and eco-innovation.; decarbonisation, energy efficiency, new renewable energy sources and reduction of polluting emissions; advanced materials and products; innovation in quality and safety processes; and projects based on digital technologies.
Applications may be submitted until 21 October 2024. The selected projects must be implemented within two years of the final decision on the grants.
About the first edition. The first Perte Agro awarded €182 million, with grants reaching more than 286 primary projects from 224 companies, and with actions in 14 autonomous communities.
